STATEMENT REGARDING THE 2020 CATS BAZZAR

It is with deep regret that after consultation with various authorities who are dealing with the current national emergency, edicts from central government, as well as the Chairman having to go through two Covid 19 Safe to work audits at his works QTHR, that the committee has decided to cancel the CATS BAZZAR for 2020.  This is not a light decision but the safety of all those involved is paramount.
Under the current circumstances:

  1. Events would have to be limited to a max of 30 people (& that would also include
    the stall holders)
  2. Full contact details including name and address would have to be submitted from
every person present in case any infection s hould arise for trace and contact
  3. Alcohol gel would have to be present at all entrances and exits, all of which would
    have to be monitored
  4. Any equipment brought on site would have to be present minimum 72 hours before
the event as well as 72 hours after.
  5. Any stall holder equipment that is touched by visitors who are not wearing PPE has
to be removed from sale for a minimum of 1 hour and cleaned before being used
    again
  6. Sanitary facilities would have to be deep cleaned every hour.
  7. No food or drink can be sold on site.
  8. Any monies collected for entry fees would have to be left untouched for 72 hours
    before counting.
  9. After the hall is vacated, it will also have to be deep cleaned before use which for a
3-4 hour event that is held on a Sunday, the school would not be allowed to the said
hall until later in the week, thus disrupting an already fractured situation with the
    children’s education.

This does not take into account any restriction that may come in place at short notice.
See you next year.

In 2011, the furthest travelled visitor was Ian VK3XIB  from near Melbourne in Australia, a distance of 16970 km by the short path – a record unlikely ever to be broken.

Nevertheless,  we hope someone will try.  However, wherever you come from, you can be sure of a warm welcome and a chance to meet friends you have worked, old and new.  If you are new to amateur radio, you can join CATS at the Bazaar and  receive help from members of CATS and other local societies on how to get into the hobby we all love – Amateur Radio.

Once more, the venue is Oasis Academy. The Oasis Academy has excellent parking and facilities and is located at: Homefield Road, Old Coulsdon, Coulsdon, Surrey CR5 1ES.

It is served by three bus routes: the 466, 404 and 60. For a map showing that location see opposite. To visit the venue’s website, click here.

Doors open at 10:00 hrs and the event is expected to finish at around 13:00 hrs.  (All times clock  times.)
